Apartment List report: Winston-Salem and Greensboro renters rate overall satisfaction – Greensboro – Triad Business Journal

Triad renters have few complaints about the area, according to Apartment List’s Renter Confidence Survey.

The report is based on more than 45,000 responses collected between Oct. 1, 2016, and Dec. 6, 2017. Renters were asked to rank their overall satisfaction on a scale of one to 10, as well as their satisfaction in 11 categories — career opportunities, safety and crime rates, commute time, weather, state and local taxes, quality of local schools, affordability, access to public transit, social life, recreation and pet friendliness.

Greensboro renters gave the city an A- in overall satisfaction. Most categories received above-average scores, the highest of which were affordability (A+), commute time (A+) and quality of schools (A). However, Greensboro received a C in recreational activities and a C+ in social life.

Winston-Salem received a B in renters’ overall satisfaction. Renters graded the city high in affordability (A+), social life (A), weather (A) and quality of schools (A-). Renters gave most categories above-average scores, with the lowest score being a B- in recreational activities.

North Carolina renters gave the state an A- in overall satisfaction. Social life and weather garnered high grades, an A and an A+, respectively. North Carolina renters were least satisfied with the quality of schools, which received a C+.

The top U.S. cities for renters are Scottsdale, Arizona, Plano, Texas, Huntington Beach, California and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Nationally, 38.4 percent of renters are satisfied with the cost of living in their city. Renters are most satisfied with recreational activities, pet-friendliness and commute time.
